Connecting Stories, Archives, and Digital Tools

Hi, I’m Eva Eglāja-Kristsone, and I’ve been working at LU LFMI since 2005. I’m a literary scholar drawn to the layers of human experience, not just in fiction but also in diaries, letters, and archival materials. I explore how life stories intersect with history, ideology, and memory, using both traditional humanities tools and digital methods.

One of my main research interests is women’s writing. I focus on how women have told their stories, contributed to culture, and engaged in activism throughout history. I'm especially interested in bringing attention to voices that have been overlooked or forgotten.

Since 2021, I have served as the director of the institute, balancing research with administrative responsibilities and working to support a collaborative and thoughtful academic environment. I also lead and co-develop platforms like Literatura.lv, which maps Latvian literary history, and Womage.lv, a space dedicated to showcasing women’s contributions to Latvian culture and society.

At the heart of my work is a curiosity about people, their texts, their times, and the complex ways they connect.
