Performative Arts, Avant-Garde, Visuality
The Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art – albeit under a different name – was my first workplace after completing my doctoral studies 40 years ago. I was fortunate to work with outstanding researchers who have since become legends in Latvia. Even today, the ILFA boasts an excellent team of scholars, and exchanging ideas with them fosters creativity.
My research focuses on performative arts in both their contemporary and historical expressions. A particular emphasis is on avant-garde theatre in the 1920s, as well as the visual aspects of contemporary stage art.
