Music Research, Analog and Digital Archives
Historical musicology, with a focus on Latvian music history, is and will remain the core of my research. However, everyday academic work encourages me to look further and more broadly, and at present, I cannot imagine conducting research without the experience and tools provided by digital humanities and corpus linguistics.
During my Master's studies, I delved into media research, which became a significant turning point, fostering a deepened interest in the relationship between music and text—how musical experiences are conveyed in words and the role of figurative language in music descriptions. I am also interested in acoustic ecology. My work has been published in journals such as Lithuanian Musicology, Letonica, and LNB Scientific Articles.
In parallel to my research, I work at Latvijas Radio 3 "Klasika", teach notation and music interpretation at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, and write music reviews.
I have also ventured into the field of music notation publishing, compiling, editing, and annotating the publication of Jānis Mediņš's Klavierdainas (Musica Baltica, 2020), and I hope to return to this area in the future.
Since 2020, I have worked as a research assistant at the ILFA. The most significant achievement to date is the Music Text Corpus, which we developed as part of a team with colleagues from the National Library of Latvia.
