UL ILFA Researchers Participate in a Conference in Kaunas

From June 15 to 17, the 15th Conference on Baltic Studies in Europe (CBSE) is taking place in Kaunas, Lithuania, under the theme “Turning Points: Values and Conflicting Futures in the Baltics.”

Researchers representing UL ILFA projects are participating with the following presentations:

  • Zita Kārkla, Eva Eglāja-Kristsone“Spatial Autobiography and Bildungsroman in Latvian Women’s Writing”

  • Ieva Garda-Rozenberga“Imagined Futures: Latvian Roma Sense of Home and Belonging in Migration”

  • Ivars Šteinbergs“Poetry from the Baltic Countries in English Translation”

  • Jānis Oga“Latvian Poet Imants Ziedonis: The Leader and Driving Force of a Long-Term Social Group”

  • Ilga Vālodze Ābele“Folklore Revival in the World Tour of the Latvian Folklore Ensemble ‘Mičotāji’”

  • Zane Rozīte“‘You Are Expelled…’: Female Students’ Offenses in the Study Process at the University of Latvia (1919–1940)”

  • Guntis Vāveris“Activities of the Temperance Movement in Inter-War Latvia in the Context of Gender Roles during the 1920s and 1930s.”

In addition, within the framework of the UL ILFA project “Women’s Representation in Latvian Culture and Society (1870–1940),” a separate panel is organised on the contribution of Baltic German women in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The panel features:
