Seminar “Migration Studies”

We invite you to the seminar “Migration Studies” on Tuesday, March 25, at 15:00. Migration studies is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field that analyzes the movement of people across geographical and cultural borders, exploring causes and consequences of migration and its links to social, economic, and political factors, as well as questions of identity and culture. Researchers examine both migration processes and the changes caused by mobility—in countries of origin, destinations, and resettlement.

The first part of the seminar will offer an overview of migration studies. Those wishing to familiarize themselves with the field beforehand are encouraged to read selected chapters from the collective monograph “Introduction to Migration Studies. An Interactive Guide to the Literatures on Migration and Diversity” or Russell King’s article “Theories and Typologies of Migration: An Overview and a Primer.”

The second part will focus on discussion and exchange of ideas, including a joint review of related research.
