NAMS Project Researchers in Germany
On March 12, the project researcher and philosopher Prof. Dr. Raivis Bičevskis visited Lüneburg, where he met with the director of the NordOst Institute (NordOst-Institut), Dr. Kirsten Bönker, as well as the institute’s researchers. During the visit, he presented current projects, including plans within the NAMS research group “Latvian Identity in the Information Age – Formation, Development, and Future Perspectives”.
Together with project researcher Dr. Elvīra Šimfa, the philosopher was also among the invited guests at the opening of the Kant Museum. The event began with a ceremonial gathering at St. Mary’s Church in Lüneburg, followed by a tour of the museum’s new premises and exhibition in the company of the museum’s management.
On March 25, Raivis Bičevskis will participate in the conference “Kant’s Philosophy for People” with a presentation titled “On the Practical Idea of Freedom. Questions on the Reception of Kant in the Baltics” (Für eine praktische Idee der Freiheit. Fragen der Kant-Rezeption im Baltikum). The conference program is available HERE.
These activities are carried out the State Research Programme “Letonika for the Development of a Latvian and European Society”, within the project “NAMS. Latvian Identity and Knowledge Strategies as a Resource for Societal Resilience” (No. VPP-IZM-Letonika-2025/1-0008).
