Kitija Balcare is participating in a sustainability-focused conference in Finland

Bringing together emerging researchers, academics, policymakers, and sustainable development experts from around the world, the international Futures Conference 2026 is taking place in Turku, Finland, on 9–10 June 2026.

Among the speakers is Kitija Balcare, a researcher at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia, who is presenting her paper "Onstage and Backstage Transformations: Theatre in the Context of Ecoscenography". Through her participation, she contributes to discussions on sustainable development, futures thinking, and societal transformation.

This year’s conference theme “Sustainability, Temporal Perspectives and Futures” highlights the importance of long-term thinking and the capacity to build resilient futures in a changing world.

The conference is one of Europe’s leading events in the field of futures studies. It is organized by the Finland Futures Research Centre at the University of Turku in cooperation with the Finland Futures Academy.
