Jānis Daugavietis participates in a zine symposium

On May 3, 2024, a symposium dedicated to zines, “SELFING AND SHELVING. Zines, Zine Media, and Zintivism,” took place in Mainz, Germany. Among the participants was Jānis Daugavietis, researcher at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia (LU LFMI), who presented the paper “New Printed Punk Zines in the Small Scene: The Case of Riga’s ‘Puve’ and ‘Grūst’.”

The symposium brought together researchers and practitioners to discuss how zines shape individual and community identity (selfing) and how these ephemeral publications can be collected, archived, and accessed (shelving).
