Inguna Daukste-Silasproģe Publishes Article in Volume "Baltische Sprachen und Kulturen in der Diaspora"

The scientific volume "Baltische Sprachen und Kulturen in der Diaspora", edited by Professor Stephan Kessler, director of the Institute for Baltic Studies at the University of Greifswald (Universität Greifswald, Institut für Baltistik), has been published by Baar-Verlag in Hamburg, Germany. The collection focuses on the Latvian and Lithuanian diaspora, exploring themes such as society, culture, language, education, and literature.

Included in the volume is an article by Inguna Daukste-Silasproģe, senior researcher at the UL Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art, titled:
“Lettische Exilliteratur im Spannungsfeld zwischen Selbstisolation und fremden kulturellen Einflüssen: Einige Überlegungen und Forschungsmöglichkeiten”
(“Latvian Exile Literature in the Tension Field Between Self-Isolation and Foreign Cultural Influences: Some Reflections and Research Opportunities”).

The article offers insight into Latvian literature in refugee camps, examining the Latvian language as a crucial identity marker in foreign environments. It addresses both the limiting tendencies of self-isolation and the emerging opportunities for development and change. The analysis also touches on parallels with German exile literature, outlining future research directions.
