Ilze Jansone's article on reading of Svens Kuzmins' novels from the perspective of grotesque realism

The online magazine Punctum has published an article by Ilze Jansone titled “What is 'Real'? A Reading of Sven Kuzmin's Novels Hohma and Dizažio from the Perspective of Grotesque Realism.” 

The article was developed within the  Latvian Council of Science research project "Recovering Latvian Realism: Literary Innovation as a Quest for Identity" (REALT), carried out at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia.

In the article author Ilze Jansone explores how the fictional seaside town of Hohma along with its societal myths, ideological shifts, and characters' experiences depicted in Sven Kuzmin's novels "Hohma" and "Dizažio" challenges the conventional understanding of realism. Through the lens of grotesque realism article examines the shifting boundary between what is "real" and what is self-evident.
