Ilga Vālodze Ābelkina participates in the Young Folklorists’ Conference in Ljubljana

From 1 to 3 October, Ilga Vālodze Ābelkina, Research Assistant at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia (ILFA), participated in the 15th International Conference of Young Folklorists, where she shared findings on elements of Latvian folklore in political protests.

The conference, themed around crossing boundaries and connecting worlds, took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In addition to presenting her research, Ilga Vālodze Ābelkina visited the Slovene Ethnographic Museum as part of the conference programme, gained insights into folklore research conducted in different regions of the world, and established new professional contacts.

The activities were carried out within the project “NAMS. Latvian Identity and Knowledge Strategies as Resources for Societal Resilience” (No. VPP-IZM-LETONIKA-2025/1-0008), implemented under the State Research Programme “Letonika for the Development of a Latvian and European Society”.
