Guntis Pakalns will participate in the conference dedicated to Haralds Biezais

On 12 July 2024, the National Library of Latvia (NLL) will host a conference dedicated to the anniversary of theologian, historian of religions, folklore and mythology researcher, and publicist Prof. Dr. theol., Dr. phil. Haralds Biezais (1909–1995)“The Driver of His Own Furrow. Haralds Biezais – 115.” The event will also include the opening of a selected collection of his works.

On 13 July at 12:00, Haralds Biezais will be commemorated in a service at Lestene Church.

The conference will also feature a paper by Guntis Pakalns, researcher at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia (ILFA), titled “Haralds Biezais and Folkloristics.”

The conference is part of the series “500 Years of the Latvian Book.” It is organized by the Haralds Biezais Foundation in cooperation with the National Library of Latvia. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required by 8 July: Registration form.
