Folk song researchers at European Researchers’ Night 2026

On September 25, 2026, during European Researchers’ Night, alongside other activities organized by the University of Latvia’s Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art, visitors will be treated to a program of educational games dedicated to folk songs titled “Why Does That Flea Jump So High?!”

Together with biologists from the University of Latvia, the LU iGEM Latvia–Riga student team, the project’s researchers will explore the world of parasites – encouraging visitors to get to know fleas, lice, and other “tiny guests” as a whole: both as real living creatures and as part of the poetic world of folk songs.
