Eva Eglāja-Kristsone will take part in the scholarly readings “In Search of Joe”
On March 8, 2024, the Latvian National Museum of Art will host the scholarly readings “In Search of Joe,” held in connection with the exhibition currently on view in the museum’s Great Hall — “‘I Have Now Set Out to Live for Art’: Jāzeps Grosvalds. 1891–1920.”
The readings are organized to share the latest research on Jāzeps Grosvalds, his artistic work, legacy, and contemporaries, including studies carried out during the preparation of the exhibition. The event offers an in-depth insight into Grosvalds’s art and biography, exploring the distinctiveness of his creative output, his public persona and activity, the cultural and historical context of his era, the formation and significance of Grosvalds’s collections, as well as interpretations of his legacy.
The conference will also feature Eva Eglāja-Kristsone, Director and Leading Researcher of UL ILFA, with the presentation “The Grosvalds Family: The Role of Autobiographical Testimonies in Mapping Women’s History Networks.”
