Environmental Change and Species Loss: Conference in Tartu

From 4 to 7 June 2024, the University of Tartu’s Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences is hosting the international conference “Traces of Extinction: Species Loss, Solastalgia, and the Semiotics of Recovery.”

Among more than 60 participants is Dace Bula, leading researcher at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia (ILFA). She presents a paper developed within the project “Landscapes of Identities: History, Culture, and Environment” (No. VPP-LETONIKA-2021/1-0008), titled “Solastalgic Suburbs: Narratives from Altered Environments.”

In addition to the academic sessions, participants can also enjoy events dedicated to nature and culture as part of Tartu’s year as European Capital of Culture.
