At the end of April, the Baltic Digital Humanities Forum will take place in Riga

The Baltic Digital Humanities Forum will take place at the University of Latvia’s new Academic Centre on April 25–26. This important event highlights the rapid growth of digital humanities (DH) across the Baltic research space. The forum aims to serve as a platform for presenting projects and research, digital tools and resources, as well as for discussions and networking among DH scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts.
The first day of the Baltic DH Forum will feature keynote presentations by leading representatives of the digital humanities in the Baltics, alongside speakers from ministries and European research infrastructures in the humanities – CLARIN ERIC and DARIAH-EU. Providing an in-depth overview of the development of digital humanities in the Baltic region over the past decade, the discussions will focus on the impact of research infrastructures on the advancement of the humanities and on the future perspectives of this field. The first two sessions of the forum will also be livestreamed via the University of Latvia’s official channel.
The second day of the forum will take on a more interactive format. Forty-five research groups from the three Baltic countries and several others will present their DH projects, demonstrate developed digital resources and tools, and showcase educational initiatives ranging from online learning platforms to summer schools and higher education modules.
In addition, the forum will feature two specialized workshops. On the afternoon of April 25, participants will have the opportunity to gain an in-depth introduction to the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH-EU). On the morning of April 26, a workshop on language technologies in higher education will highlight the Language Technology Initiative coordinated by the University of Latvia and bring together experts from Lithuania and Estonia to discuss cooperation in this field.
