Article by Benedikts Kalnačs on 19th century literary realism in "Dacoromania Litteraria"

In the 12th issue (2025) of the online journal "Dacoromania Litteraria", an article by Benedikts Kalnačs, a leading researcher at the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia, has been published. The article draws attention to the historical contexts of nineteenth-century literary realism and to manifestations of aesthetic self-reflexivity in Latvian writing.

The article was produced within the research project funded by the Latvian Council of Science (LCS), “Reclaiming Latvian Realism: Literary Innovation as Identity Quest” (lzp-2024/1-0341), and forms part of the project team’s broader aim to offer a contemporary theoretical and historical interpretation of realist literature within a comparative framework.
