Arta Krūze and Ginta Pērle-Sīle participate in a conference on traditional singing

ILFA UL researchers Arta Krūze and Ginta Pērle-Sīle will participate in the 54th International Conference on Traditional Singing, “Songs in Archives and Communities: Texts and Living Tradition,” taking place from 24–27 August in Tartu, Estonia.

The conference focuses on the study of folk songs and traditional singing, exploring how song texts and the living practices associated with them exist both in archival collections and in the everyday lives of contemporary communities.

At the conference, the LU LFMI researchers will present a paper entitled “Repetition of Couplets as Structural Units in Latvian Folk Songs: Insights from a Large-Scale Text Corpus.”

Their participation in the conference is supported by the Latvian Council of Science project “Spoken Songs: Algorithms of Composition and Improvisation” (No. LZP-2025/1-0252).
