An article by Pauls Daija, "When the Enlightenment Meets Realism", has been published in the online journal Punctum. The article was developed within the framework of the Latvian Council of Science research project "Reclaiming Latvian Realism: Literary Innovation as Identity Quest (REALT)", implemented by the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia.

The article focuses on the prehistory of realism in Latvian literature, examining its aesthetic features and modes of representation in comparison with the literary tradition of the Enlightenment.
This publication continues the series of essays on the problematics of realism initiated by Punctum.
