A project of UL ILFA is looking for a student with an interest in modernist studies
The Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia is seeking a research assistant (student position) for the implementation of the FLPP project “A Walk through Time: Flâneurism and Modernity in Latvian Interwar Culture” (No. lzp-2022/1-0505) for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Main task:
To develop and successfully defend a Master’s thesis in summer 2024 on one of the following topics:

the history of Latvian modernism in the context of international modernism;

modernism in Latvian literature, visual art, theatre, and cinema;
-
representations of the city in modernist art;
-
modernist art in the context of gender studies.
Requirements:

second-year Master’s student in a humanities programme at a Latvian higher education institution;

interest in Latvian cultural history, cultural, literary and art theory, urban studies, and modernist studies;

good command of English, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team.

remuneration at a rate of EUR 12/hour, with a planned workload of 0.3 FTE.
