This issue was prepared by a team of Latvian researchers involved in the research project "Folklore Revival in Latvia: Resources, Ideologies and Practices", funded by the Latvian Council of Science (project No. lzp-2021/1-0243). The issue was published with the support of the University of Latvia and the State Cultural Capital Foundation. The project included the organization of a panel titled "Folklore Revivals in Non-Democratic Contexts" as a joint initiative of Baltic scholars at the SIEF 2023 Congress in Brno, Czech Republic. As a result, we received valuable contributions from Lithuania and Hungary for this issue, broadening its geographical scope. Additional articles from Lithuania and Ukraine were received following our call for contributions for this special issue.
