The 13th International Conference of Baltic Literary Scholars "Shifting Literary Culture since Stagnation in the Brezhnev Era: The Baltic Paradigm"
The 13th conference "Shifting Literary Culture since Stagnation in the Brezhnev Era: The Baltic Paradigm", organized by the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia, will take place on 23 and 24 September 2021 at the National Library of Latvia.
The first biannual conference of Baltic literary scholars took place in Riga in 1996, and it has been followed by meetings in Vilnius and Tallinn. The 13th conference will focus on the Stagnation, an era with its own unique rules and place in the history of the Soviet period. 34 scholars and students will present their papers that interrogate the relationship between literary culture, community, and narratives of the period and beyond. Universities and research institutions represented at the conference: the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore, Tallinn University, the Museum of Under and Tuglas Literature Centre of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Latvia, Liepāja University, the Institute of Art History of the Art Academy of Latvia, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, the National Library of Latvia, Riga Stradiņš University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Hong Kong Baptist University.
